I was listening to this Christian radio station and this preacher man was saying that marriage is Christian.

I was driving in my car, didn’t get to hear the whole thing, but I’m assuming, probably correctly that he was referring to marriage between a man and a woman.

I wished I could have called into that radio station and said, “Jesus was never married.”

Marriage was around long before Christianity, that statement is just so wrong. As I shared with a friend on Facebook, “people just make stuff up and call it Christian.”  This is something that needs to stop and I’m thankful for What Would Jesus Do so that we can push back on a lot of this stuff.

Concerning this man’s statement on his radio show who claims to speak for Christianity and thus all Christians. For that matter, Paul wasn’t even married and this is what most of Christianity follows.

Well this is what Jesus said about marriage when he was questioned about it:

Matthew 22:23-30

23 The same day Sadducees came to him, who say that there is no resurrection, and they asked him a question, 24 saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies having no children, his brother must marry the widow and raise up offspring for his brother.’ 25 Now there were seven brothers among us. The first married and died, and having no offspring left his wife to his brother. 26 So too the second and third, down to the seventh. 27 After them all, the woman died. 28 In the resurrection, therefore, of the seven, whose wife will she be? For they all had her.”

29 But Jesus answered them, “You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God.30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.

Luke 20:34-36

34 And Jesus said to them, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage, 35 but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage, 36 for they cannot die anymore, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.

Now I’m not saying that Jesus forbade marriage. It wasn’t his thing. It is not apart of the Kingdom of Heaven. So however others conduct themselves concerning marriage is neither Christian or Unchristian, it just simply is not our concern as followers of Jesus.
